Alabama Half Marathon runners, it's time to kick off the New Year, and what perfect timing for the Bank Trust First Light Half Marathon January 8th, 2012! Throw on your cozy January running clothing for the perfect running temperatures typically ranging in the 40's & 50's in January, and burn those extra calories off from the holidays! And for those that want to start off the year qualifying for Boston, the First Light Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier if you are looking to start the year with a full marathon. The event includes a T-shirt to all entrants, Pre & Post race meals, a Post Race concert, and a finisher medallion! Additionally, the race is very well supported with plenty of water stops.

ALABAMA - MAR 29th - April 9th -Support awareness for children afflicted with juvenile arthritis
Hello Running Club members of Alabama,
Patrick McGlade is a young 21-year-old college graduate from VA running across the country to promote awareness and raise money for the children afflicted with juvenile arthritis. He started in Huntington Beach, CA on Jan 2 and will be passing through Alabama from Mar 29 – Apr 9. We invite your membership to join him at any point running through Alabama. Run one mile or 30 miles, your choice! Visit his website http://way.to/patricksrun4arthritis for further details concerning route and how you can support. You can also call him at 540-845-3162 to coordinate a starting point. If anyone would like to host him for an evening in their home, feel free to contact me to coordinate.
